Item Description
A superb piece for any collector of European oddities, gypsum, or just nice gemmy minerals - this is a rare large arrowhead twin of clear translucent gypsum, colored with a limited faint iron staining. Specimen label is from Dr Vasco Trancoso, an authority and collector of Portuguese minerals based in Lisbon. He lists that it was from Panasqueira mine in 1958, which seems like it might have been found in exploratory workings to the modern era of mining there. Very rare and exceptional gypsum for the locale. Ex. Vasco Trancoso Collection, which in this case is extremely good provenance on a Portuguese specimen. The piece is illustrated in MINDAT Photo Gallery for the species and locale (Portugal).
