Item Description

A tremendous rarity from the standpoint of quality and obscurity on the market. I have only seen a handful of pieces of Gypsum (Selenite) from the Great Salt Lake in Utah, and this particular piece is the finest crystallized example I've handled. It is a single, sharp, well-formed, thin, prismatic crystal with a gorgeous radial internal zoning pattern. The label on states that it's from the Great Salt Lake in Utah, and doesn't mention a specific county, and considering the Great Salt Lake Borders 5 different counties, I'm just leaving the locality as is. A really cool and hard to find specimen from this world famous body of water. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#7765). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
