Item Description

From the collection of Colorado geologist Allen Heyl (Aheylite), here we have a striking, highly unusual, nearly transparent, colorless and somewhat "hourglass" twinned Gypsum crystal from Lake Gilles. The crystal is included with clay particles and both terminations show fishtail-twins, though one is more pronounced than the other. Lake Gilles produces some of the most unusual Gypsum crystal forms in the world. See the Mineralogical Record article in the May-June, 1982 issue, Vol. 13, No. 3 for more info.
