Item Description
A really interesting old-time specimen from the historic Santa Eulalia District featuring a prominent "ram's horn"-shaped group of heavily striated grey-white colored Gypsum which is highlighted by gorgeous lemon yellow platy crystals Novacekite-I on additional Gypsum and host rock matrix. Novacekite-I (formerly Novacekite) is a rare uranium arsenate species that is seldom seen in any capacity on the market these days, but this piece dates back about 50-60 years, when one of the better discoveries of this particular association of Gypsum with Novacekite-I was made. Additionally, there are small micro crystals of an unknown green mineral, possibly another uranium species (Cuprosklodowskite?). If you collect minerals from Mexico or specifically Santa Eulalia, or worldwide Gypsums or just unusual association specimens, do NOT miss out on this one as it is one of the largest and most attractive pieces of this incredibly hard to find combination that I've seen. Valued at $1,800. Please note, there is a small bit of old newspaper attached to this specimen, and I didn't come off easily, so I was a bit hesitant to remove it for fear it might damage the specimen or peel away some underlying Novacekite-I crystals. From the collection of Henry de Linde (March 21, 1923 – April 4, 2019) of Hot Spring, Arkansas. Henry was one of the most prominent figures in the history of Arkansas mining and mineral collecting. Along with being a miner, mineral collector and an amateur mineralogist, de Linde was one of the founders of the Coon Creek Association mineral club. He was the owner of several key localities in Arkansas including the Diamond Jo Quarry (on the south rim of Magnet Cove), the type locality for Delindeite, which was named in his honor in 1987.
