A superb, aesthetic and RARE small cabinet gypsum and pyrite combination from this famous Italian pyrite mine, closed before 1984. A pristine, tabular, 4..0 x 3.5 cm, water-clear gypsum crystal with classic, frosted, layered, beveled edge faces and a striking primary angled termination is dramatically and aesthetically set adjacent to an sculptural intergrown cluster of brilliant, sharp pyrite cubes, to 1.3 cm, with interesting pebbly pyrite overgrowths. The pristine terminated gypsum crystal in front of the pyrite cluster adds even more character. Pyrite from this mine is world-class and rivals pyrite from Rio Marina on Elba Island, Peru, Spain and Washington State and has also produced outstanding gypsum and sulfur specimens. Superb, perhaps UNIQUE, gypsum and pyrite for the locality! from the large Giancarlo Fioravanti Collection, mostly assembled in the 1950s-1970s.
