Item Description

The famous pseudomorphs from Camp Verde are iconic in terms of their form and visceral beauty. This piece is a gorgeous well-formed specimen featuring "alabaster"-esque Gypsum which has replaced preexisting Glauberite that formed in a wonderful "flower"-like crystal group. The piece is nearly complete all around, though I can see one contact point on the edge of the secondary crystals, so it's not a total "floater". Glauberite is a rare Na-Ca sulfate and this ancient salt-clay-gypsum mining area is famous for these attractive and unique pseudomorphs. From the noted pseudomorph collection of Dr. Wouter van Tichelen of Belgium.
