Item Description

These pseudomorphs from Camp Verde are some of the most well-known replacements from anywhere in the southwestern United States. This piece is a very good sized, sharp, well-formed, flattened, "alabaster"-esque pseudomorph of Gypsum replacing Glauberite forming a complete "floater" specimen. There are small secondary "flange"-like crystals flaring off the broad face of the front and back of the piece. Glauberite is a rare Na-Ca sulfate and this ancient salt-clay-gypsum mining area is famous for these attractive and unique pseudomorphs. From the noted pseudomorph collection of Dr. Wouter van Tichelen of Belgium.
