This well-known New York dolomite road metal quarry is renowned for world-class, gem blue fluorite cubes. Well-formed celestine and gypsum specimens are rare from here. Exceptional, sculptural and aesthetic combinations, such as this, are EXTREMELY RARE. A striking, stout, water-clear, contacted, but amazingly essentially pristine for such a soft species gypsum crystal is dramatically set against a 360-degree parallel-growth column of glassy translucent celestine crystals. Both ends of the celestine were contacted against the vug walls. Rare, perhaps unique combination material from this noted locale. Old material collected in 1965, according to the label. The label is incorrect. Chemically, Celestine cannot be included in Selenite (Gypsum). The label should read Gypsum on Celestine. Valued at $1500. A MUST for the locality or species collector!
