Item Description
An impressive, BIG display specimen of the famous "desert rose" Gypsums from the Sahara Desert. This three-dimensional large cabinet is packed with dozens of sharp, well-formed, compressed tabular crystals of Gypsum which are included with tan colored sand particles. The piece is in good shape overall, though there are some contacts, but you can't expect a piece of this size to be completely pristine. The largest crystal measures a whopping 4.2 cm across, which is the largest I've seen from this locality. I was fortunate to purchase this piece in a small parcel directly from the man who collected it in Algeria. He was able to give me a bit more specific locality than "Sahara Desert" which is often the only information you'll see attached to these specimens. He said it was from near Oued Souf which is nicknamed the "City of a Thousand Domes". Priced in the inventory at $1,750. PLEASE NOTE: Due to the size and weight of this specimen, an additional shipping charge will be required, so please feel free to contact us before bidding if you have any questions or concerns.
