Item Description
A very attractive display quality example of the famous "desert rose" specimens from the desert of north-central Africa. The piece is loaded with intergrown sharp, compressed tabular crystals of Gypsum containing tan colored sand particles. The piece is in good shape overall, though there are some contacts. The largest crystal measures 2.9 cm across. I was able to purchase this piece in a small parcel directly from the man who collected it in Algeria. He was able to give me a bit more specific locality than "Sahara Desert" which is often the only information you'll see attached to these specimens.
