Gypsum ("Desert Rose")

Item Description

An excellent, large, sharp, well-preserved, "flower "-like formation of comprssed tabular crystals containing tan colored sand particles. I bought this piece directly from the man who mined it in Algeria, which is why I have a bit more specific locality than "Sahara Desert" like we're used to seeing with these specimens. Despite some nicks, the piece is in good shape, and actually features larger than normal sized crystals than we're used to seeing in this classic material from the north-central African desert. The piece actually shows a slight fluorescence under UV light as well.
