Item Description
Gypsum crystals of this spectacular size and color are RARE from the historic mines at Lavrion. This water-clear terminated monster has a fabulous yellow limonite phantom, that shows through the gem cleavage face. The other five faces prism faces are etched and have embedded iron oxides. Complete all-around and actually in really good shape for such a large example of a very soft mineral. Five contacts are noted where other crystals once lay, but have very little damage. This stunning and important large crystal comes with a custom-made and engraved lucite base (itself valued at $175), for free. 4.9 pounds or 2.2 kilos. Value??? Hard to say. I have not seen these for sale before, and they came to us in a large lot at Tucson.
