A stunning single crystal matrix gypsum from Naica. The impressive large water-clear tabular prism with the striking angle termination is 9.0 x 3.8 x 1.2 cm and is dramatically set on the gossan matrix. Complete all-around and in great shape from such a soft species. The contact on the back of the prism has no damage, per se and the trivial bit of barely visible termination tip bruising on the back edge is certainly only a modest detraction. This is an exceptional and very uncommon large matrix gypsum from this famed locale. Ex Ed David Collection, to me sometime around 2005, and then lost in my warehouse until housecleaning this summer! It is a VERY FINE old example of this dramatic mineral find. Ed was Science Advisor to President Nixon and assemble several world-class collections before passing away in 2017. Classic Naica gypsum.
