Item Description

Colorless gypsum is very common worldwide. However, one look at this mint green gypsum and you automatically know it is from famous finds in Pernatty Lagoon in Australia. These fine needle like crystals form small radial spheres completely covering the upper surface of the specimen like a sea of grass. An appealing aspect of this specimen is it displays 2 different periods of formation. The later stage of mint green gypsum is layered on top of a distinctive earlier stage of clear glassy gypsum crystalline sprays. Very unique to have this growth record preserved in a specimen from this locale. There is some periphery edge wear and bruising on a couple of spheres but it is considered acceptable given the softness and delicate nature of these gypsum specimens. Ex. Kurt Hefendehl Collection.
