It goes without saying that the finest quality crystals of Groutite from North America are those from the Robert Mine, just northeast of Brainerd in Minnesota. A case can be made that these specimens are the finest crystallized Groutites in the world! This piece is a wonderful older specimen that according to the label was collected on May 7, 1977 and came from David Paul Bierbrauer. It features sharp, rather lustrous, grey-black crystals which have formed beautiful "rosette"-esque groups measuring up to about 7 mm across sitting on massive manganese-bearing (Manganite?) matrix with a bit of associated white Quartz. The Groutite groups look beautiful up close, and this is certainly fine quality for the species and the locality. The specimen comes from the famous collection of the Seaman Mineral Museum at Michigan Tech University.
