Item Description
An attractive, lustrous example of the rare manganese oxide mineral, Groutite. When found, Groutite is most often seen in small, needle-like crystals, such as the well-known occurence on petrified wood from Holbrook, Arizona; or old classics from Germany. The reniform habit such as this is rarely seen. Here, the small botryoids are about .5 cm across, and they have superb, near-metallic luster. A interesting, rare, relatively aesthetic, specimen. Better in person. Charlie considered this a very large example of the species, which is surprisingly rare in the Kalahari fields for some reason. ex Charlie Key collection. valued $1000 by him.
