A showy small cabinet display specimen of this seldom-seen material from the Camp Hinds locality in Raymond, Maine. This is not pegmatitic Garnet, as the deposit is a Calc-silicate deposit, and specimens are virtually unseen in today's market. I feel confident saying that this is the BEST piece of this material that we've had to offer in the auctions. Several superb, glassy, sharp, well-formed dodecahedral crystals of rich orange-red Grossular (Hessonite) measuring up to 1.3 cm across, are nestled together in the central portion of the specimen. When backlit, the Garnets sparkle with little spots of fiery internal reflections. Very good quality for the material, and if you collect Garnets, minerals of Maine / New England or general East Coast specimens, this is something significant and important that you're not going to find anywhere else.
