Here's a great European Alpine "classic". One of the most recognized minerals from the Italian Alps are the beautiful red Grossulars. This piece features several sharp, lustrous, reddish-brown color dodecahedral crystals with trapezohedral modifications of Grossular (variety: "Hessonite") on matrix. The largets crystal measures 9 mm across. This is a nice small cabinet reference specimen for anyone interested in Italian Alpine mineral specimens. This piece was collected in 1985.
