Item Description
This locality lies right on the Swiss/Italian border, just southeast of Zermatt. This specimen is one of the better examples of this material that I have seen from this locality. It features dozens of small, gem quality, deep orange-red color dodecahedral Hesoonite crystals with trapezohedral modifications which are associated with bluish-green crystal aggregates of Clinochlore, small white crystals of Albite and one golden-green prismatic Diopside crystal. The quality along with the associations make this a very worthwhile and impressive specimen from this Swiss Alps. I don't have to tell you that the Swiss certainly value their Alpine specimens higher than Italy, France or Austria, and a piece of this size and quality is not common. Valued at $800.
