Item Description

One of the great Italian Alpine classics are the fantastic Grossular Garnets. The combinations of orange to red crystals with green Diopside and Clinochlore make for some gorgeous specimens. This piece is a lovely small cabinet display specimen featuring fine, sharp, lustrous, gemmy, cinnamon-orange colored dodecahedra with trapezohedral modifications measuring up to 6 mm sitting in good sized, distinct, sharp, GEMMY, rich green colored bladed crystals of Clinochlore ("Chlorite") with minor greenish-white associated Diopside on matrix. Fine quality, showy and a great representation of this beloved material. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#4157). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Velt" November-December 2017).
