Item Description
A classic example of the well known modified dodecahedral/trapezohedral Grossular specimens from Mali. Typically, these crystals are found as single "floaters" and this is a good example of said material. The crystal has sharp, lustrous faces, and the typical rich chocolate brown exterior color. The interesting aspect of this specimen that the crystal is incomplete in the back and actually show a lovely internal green color! I have no idea if most or all of these crystals from Sandare have this beautiful internal hue, but I was certainly surprised when I turned this one over. A very good sized Garnet crystal for any collector. This material has not been seen on the market recently, and I believe that the majority of it is now gone.
