Item Description

Grossular garnet from the Jeffrey Mine is certainly one of the most recognizable of all minerals, especially of garnets. It formed in a variety of shapes, styles, and colors, with most specimens recovered from the 1970s-1980s. This is a really unusual, translucent to transparent plate that probably dates to the 1980s era, and shows sparkling gem garnets one upon another, to make a "drapery" of garnets as a thin plate, that just hangs in space. You can display it vertically or horizontally, and either way it looks like a shimmering piece of glass. This is exceptional quality, from the collection of Herb Obodda. The large crystal atop is 6 mm or so, not huge. It is not about size here, but about the overall beautiful aggregate of the piece.
