Item Description
Please Note: This piece came labeled simply as coming from Calaveras County, California, and although it was labeled as being Grossular, it could be a green Andradite from Garnet Hill. With that said, if anybody out there has some insight as to the origin of this specimen, please feel free to let us know. Dozens of fairly lustrous, gemmy, dodecahedral crystals of green Garnet measuring up to about 2 mm are sitting on host rock matrix. Interesting material, and if you collect Garnets or minerals of California, don't miss out on this oddity. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#5102). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
