Item Description
Here's a great European Alpine "classic". One of the most recognized associations from the Alps are the beautiful Grossulars from Italy. This piece features dozens of sharp, highly lustrous, dark golden-orange to brownish-orange color trapezohedral / dodecahedral crystals of Grossular (variety: "Hessonite") on matrix. The largest crystal measures 8 mm across. A good display specimen for anyone interested in great Italian Alpine mineral specimens. Very little damage to speak of. Ex Herb Obodda, and valued at $1500, but I would say easily more today.
