Grossular Garnet with Quartz

Vesper Peak was and remains a legendary garnet specimen locality that is difficult to reach by helicopter access, and difficult to collect. These classic grossular garnet crystals, to 1 cm, have a stunning brightness and a rich amber-red color to them. Few large specimens ever came out, at any era of mining, and this was self collected by well known Washington and Northwest field collector Karl Faddis (we obtained his collection in 2011). Karl Faddis was a local legend himself, and built a superb collection of self-collected Washington material. This piece, from his private collection, is a whole pocket of brilliantly lustrous, gemmy garnets perched on quartz. Although there is some peripheral damage, the core display area is mostly intact and this is an important locality specimen for the size and richness of the garnet. Custom base included.
