Grossular Garnet with Epidote

Item Description

This piece came to us with a label stating it was from the Kirby Mine in Nevada, and although we could not find a reference to any species of Garnet reported from this locality on mindat.org, a user has provided us with a link that mentions Garnet from this mine ( https://westernmininghistory.com/mine_detail/10045081/ ). It's mostly a reference specimen featuring sharp, lustrous, deep orange-red colored dodecahedra and smaller partial crystals of Grossular Garnet associated with minor dark green massive Epidote on matrix. The largest Garnet crystal measures 3.5 mm across.
