Textbook, gemmy and lustrous, orange-red, hessonite garnets to 5 mm, accented with grayish-green clinochore books fill two aesthetically place vugs in matrix on this showy and excellent specimen from a classic Italian locale - the Ala Valley, Piedmont. Outstanding combination material from this noted locale from the Russell Jones Collection. Clinochore with grossular is a very seldom available combination from the Ala Valley. Comes with a Hugh Ford label dating from 1946-57. He was a prominent English mineral dealer living in New York after World War II.
