Item Description
Beautiful multi-hued reddish-brown to fiery reddish-orange, very glassy, gemmy/transucent grossular garnets from this less well-known California locale. The sharp garnets are up to 3.0 cm and they are fairly large for the locale. The textbook crystals are dodecahedrons with trapezohedral modifications. The crystals GLOW with rich reddish-orange, when backlit. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 10574 and acquired from California dealer/collector John Seibel at the MSSC Show in 1984. John probably collected the piece. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record). CHOICE and fine grossular from the locale and displays beautifully from both directions. A must for the species or locality collector.
