Item Description
First off, I will point that this specimen was labeled as coming from "Lake Jaco", which was a misleading designation for all these Grossulars years ago. It turns out that there are no Garnets found at Lake Jaco, but they are found within the Sierra de Cruces area. This miniature sized piece features a sharp, well-formed dodecahedral crystal of Grossular measuring up to 6 mm across, on matrix. A few smaller Garnets can be seen on the piece as well, but it's the main crystal that draws the eye. The color of the crystals is a vibrant saturated reddish-pink hue, which has given these specimen the nickname "raspberry garnet". No major damage that I can see. A good representative specimen of this old classic material from the late 1990s.
