Item Description
A very hard to find piece from Imperial County, California (possibly from the Canteen Mine in the Jacumba Mountains) featuring a group of excellent, sharp, lustrous, well-formed, reddish-brown crystals of Grossular showing dodecahedral and trapezohedral faces measuring up to 1.2 cm across associated with massive grey Quartz and minor grey-green colored Diopside. Very minor damage, but overall the piece is in great shape, and if you're a fan of worldwide Garnets or minerals of California, this is a cool esoteric specimen to add to your collection. From the collection of Robert (Bob) Reynolds. Bob was a well-known fossil and mineral expert and former Curator of Earth Sciences at the San Bernardino County Museum in California. The rare phyllomanganate-chromate species Reynoldsite was named in his honor in 2011.
