Glorious cherry-red backlit color on this very RARE habit, aesthetic and pristine stacked thumbnail intergrown cluster of lustrous and gemmy wine-red grossular garnet dodecahedrons from the famous Ala Valley. The Ala Valley is world-famous for exceptional grossular garnet (including the hessonite variety), Diopside (Type Locality) and Clinochlore specimens. Ex Bill Larson & his company's Pala International Garnet Collection with engraved label - which was long on the display at the Fallbrook store in the San Diego area for decades before we bought it some years ago (found it hiding in storage!). Bill's label has this as a Spessartine Garnet specimen, which is VERY RARE from the Ala Valley. We believe this is a superlative example of this RARE Grossular Garnet habit.
