Item Description

Mineral specimens are VERY RARE from this obscure former skarn deposit gemstone mine in San Diego County. The mine was known for clear gem quality epidote crystals and grossular garnet (MINDAT). Pretty gemmy/translucent, rich orange-red lustrous, dodecahedrons beveled by trapezohedral faces, to 1.3 cm, are attractively clustered atop the mounded small cabinet matrix of solid granular grossular garnet. Self-collected by James Bowersox in 1969 and then in the Erik Rose Collection to Larson. Ex Bill Larson San Diego County Garnet Collection and long on display at his Pala International shop in Fallbrook. VERY RARE and excellent grossular garnet from the McFall Mine.
