Grossular garnet from Sierra de la Cruz is a Mexican classic. This extremely sharp, very complex, modified dodecahedral crystal is lustrous, moderately translucent and has rich mottled yellow color. Pristine. There are two points of contact, but there is no damage, per se. Excellent for the locality and probably dates to the 1960s or 1970s. Fairly common then, but uncommon today in this color. Ex Dennis Mullane Collection. We misidentified this crystal as a vesuvianite in last weeks auction. Our apologies.
