Item Description

An impressive, large, rare color, 6.0 cm, sharp, elongated, doubly terminated grossular garnet dodecahedron from the famed Sierra de Cruces locality in Mexico. Best known for gorgeous raspberry-red grossulars, this striking lustrous crystal is mostly opaque dark brown with scattered edges and areas of lighter brown translucence. The stout prism jauntily rests on a matrix of smaller brown to yellow-green grossulars. Complete all-around and nearly pristine, with only a modest corner bruise and a bit of out-of-sight contacting on the back side. Ex Lee Burnett Collection of Morrison, Colorado. An exceptional large rare color grossular from the locale.
