Item Description
Garnet is a very popular gem for the fact that it comes in virtually every color of the rainbow. There are multiple gem quality species of Garnet found around the world. The famous and now closed Jeffrey Quarry in Quebec, Canada produced some of the most memorable and unique Grossular Garnets ever found, sometimes in gem quality examples, suitable for faceting. This particular stone has a beautiful soft orange shade (sometimes called Hessonite) that made these Garnets from Jeffrey so desirable. The stone is virtually eye clean with a wonderful "Cushion" cut. This locality will never be mined again, so there is finite number of good Grossulars from Jeffrey on market. If you love Garnets, or if you have a special affinity for the Jeffrey Mine, this is a great stone to add to your collection, and also a great candidate to match with a crystal from the locality to create a "rough and cut" set.
