Grossular Garnet (Hessonite)

Here we have an attractive "Round" cut fiery orange Hessonite Garnet (Grossular) gem from Mexico. The term Hessonite was originally used for reddish/orange Grossulars from the Alps, but the term is often used for any Grossulars of this hue, regardless of this locality. Considering that this isn't a tremendously large stone, the saturation of color is superb and it really looks nice in person. The stone is only very very slightly included, and would make a great addition to any faceted Garnet suite or as a gift for somebody with a January birthday since Garnet is the birthstone for that month.
