Item Description

This specimen is part of the 2020 Dallas Mineral Collecting Symposium benefit auction, with proceeds benefiting Mineralogical Record, Rocks & Minerals, Tucson Gem and Mineral Society, and mindat.org. Thanks to all of our participants!

Rock Currier was the prime exporter of tons of amazing and interesting new Mali material starting in the mid-ought 2000's. Being Rock, he kept some of the best for himself, as the tonnage flowed through to his wholesale business. Mixed among the material were some real jewels and fine specimens, such as this cluster of wine-red garnets. He believed these to be grossular/andradite mixtures, apparently. Valued $500.
