Item Description
The Jeffrey Mine was the source of some of the most eye-catching, beautiful and highest quality Garnet crystals ever found. Sadly, the locality is finished and will never produce these specimens again. The mine is best known for it's gorgeous orange colored Grossular Garnets, which have been nicknamed "Cinnamon" Grossular. This thumbnail sized specimen hosts several, excellent quality, highly lustrous, very sharp, GEMMY, rich orange colored striated dodecahedral crystals of Grossular Garnet measuring up to 1.2 cm free of matrix. Good quality with only a tiny bit of roughness, and the piece is actually crystallized on the front and back. Some crystals are incredibly gemmy (nearly water clear in areas). Ex Charlie Key collection. Charlie is arguably the most sucessful dealer of the second half of the 20th century, along with being the namesake for TWO mineral species (Keyite and Ludlockite).
