Item Description
The world famous Jeffrey Mine was the source of the most of the most eye-catching and superb quality Garnet specimens extant. Although Andradite has been found at Jeffrey, the majority of the Garnets from this locality are Grossular. The most well-known examples are the "Cinnamon" Grossular Garnets with their unique orange color, gemminess, top luster and superb "textbook" form. This specimen is features excellent quality, GEMMY, very sharp, highly lustrous, beautiful orange color Grossular crystals with a dodecahedral habit with trapezohedral modifications measuring up to 7 mm free of matrix. Very good condition on the display side. You can't get these any more as the Jeffrey Mine is completely finished and will never produce these specimens again. A great thumbnail example of these Canadian classics. Ex Charlie Key personal collection. Charlie is arguably the most sucessful dealer of the second half of the 20th century, along with being the namesake for TWO mineral species (Keyite and Ludlockite).
