Grossular Garnet (classic material)

Item Description

The famous and now-closed Jeffrey Quarry in Quebec was the source of some of the most distinctive and magnificent quality Garnet crystals extant. These "Cinnamon" or "Hessonite" Grossulars are well-known from this large open pit mine are known for their unique orange color, gemminess, top luster and superb "textbook" form. This specimen features many fine quality, sharp, lustrous, orange color, gemmy, crystals of Grossular measuring up to 8 mm across sitting on matrix. The crystals show a beautiful combination of trapezohedral and dodecahedral faces. Most of the crystals are damage free (though there are some spots of damage) and look beautiful up close with the beautiful thin striations on each face. Valued $1,500.
