Item Description

Beautiful peach, sparkly gem grossular garnet dodecahedrons with classic striated faces, to 7 mm, cover the front of this very showy and rich two-sided plate from the famed Jeffrey Mine. The back is fully covered with tiny scintillating grossulars, as a bonus. Ex Franesco Bedogne Collection # 230 and acquired in the late 1960s or 70s from well-known Canadian/South African dealer Prosper Williams (with his label), when he had a monopoly on Jeffrey Mine material. Dr. Bedogne, 1942-2012, was a well-known Italian mineralogist, prolific author, field collector and collector. Read his biography in the Mineralogical Record Biographical Archive: http://www.minrec.org/labels.asp?colid=118. Peach colored crystals are a more uncommon varietal from this noted locale.
