Item Description
The Jeffrey Asbestos mine is THE classic locality for pretty grossular garnets and this is a glistening plate of solid garnet, with crystals to 1 cm, makes this a showpiece....and a rare specimen at the quality and size, as well. This plate of garnets has superb luster and gemminess, and classic color for the Jeffrey Mine, circa 1970s-1980s finds there. It has crystals to 1 cm, although most are smaller. There is no damage to the display face, although a small flat area at one edge seems to be contacted (but not broken), as if it grew against a flat crystal of something else. For the size, especially at auction, it is hard to find anything of this quality on the market at a reasonable price. Valued $1200-1500
