Grossular Garnet

Item Description

This Grossular Garnet plate of sparkling crystals consists of numerous lustrous, scintillating, peach-pink crystals on a microcrystalline Diopside matrix from the celebrated Jeffrey Mine in Quebec, Canada. The 3 to 9 mm, gemmy Garnet crystals are somewhat isolated to juxtaposed, yet show great dodecahedral crystal form and they just scintillate in any incident light. The color here is a little more peachy than the usual which makes it stand out and they look fantastic on the pale pistachio green Diopside druse coated matrix. The Diopside crystals are less than a millimeter, but are distinct under a loupe and make the perfect backdrop for the Garnets. Now closed to collecting, this is a sad loss to collectors, but the closure ensures value in the specimens that were recovered, like this one! The contrast is distinctive and unique to this location, now closed.
