Item Description

A beautiful set of three textbook dodecahedral Grossular Garnet crystals from the little known Mason Valley Gem Claim in San Diego County. All three crystals are complete "floaters" with a reddish-brown hue on the faces, highlighted by a lighter golden hue along the edges. A great set for any fan of worldwide Garnets, or minerals of San Diego County. The crystals range from 3.0 x 2.6 x 2.4 cm to 1.6 x 1.5 x 1.4 cm in size. From the collection of Bill Larson of Fallbrook, California. Bill is a well-known gem and mineral dealer as well as a miner and collector. Bill is synonymous with minerals of San Diego County, and owned and operated famous mines such as the Stewart Lithia, the Tourmaline Queen, the Pala Chief and the Himalaya, producing some of the most iconic mineral specimens to come out of the area during the 1970s-1980s.
