Item Description

Gemmy and lustrous, sharp, deep cinnamon-orange grossular garnet dodecahedral crystals are densely intergrown on this very rich and sculptural mounded miniature from well-known Vesper Peak. The crystals reach 1.0 cm, good sized for the locale. The crystals glow golden-orange with areas of yellow fire, when backlit. This skarn area in Washington was a noted area for fine grossular from 1979 to 1984 and yielded among the world's finest specimens of the species. Ex Bill Larson & his company's Pala International Garnet Collection with engraved label - which was long on the display at the Fallbrook store in the San Diego area for decades before we bought it some years ago (found it hiding in storage!).
