Item Description
A very attractive display miniature of the well known, but hard to find Grossulars from Vesper Peak! The group features sharp, gemmy, deep cinnamon-orange color dodecahedra with lustrous faces, but the most interesting aspect of the crystals is that they show rare CUBIC faces, which are almost never observed in Garnets. I almost mistook this piece for Sphalerite when I first looked at it. The color, quality and overall appearance are very good for the material, and the piece is ingood condition overall. The largest crystal measures 7 mm, which is good sized for Grossular from this area. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#7632). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record). A beautiful and attractive old-timer from this famous locale.
