Item Description
Grossulars from the Thetford Mines in Québec show a wide range of hues from "cinnamon" orange to golden to pink to intense green! These "Chrome Grossulars" have some of the strongest green hues you'll see for any Garnet species. It's amazing what a little chromium can do for the color, and even little crystals like this (the largest crystal on this piece is roughly 1 mm across) GLOW with an electric hue. This large thumbnail specimen is filled with dozens of sparkling, gemmy, sharp, lustrous, well-formed dodecahedral crystals on matrix. I can see some thin colorless prismatic crystals on the piece, which I assume to be Diopside. A highly colorful specimen of this now hard to find material.
