Item Description
Griphite is an ultra-rare complex lithium phosphate found in only three localities worldwide, all in the United States, according to MINDAT. This waxy luster, dark brown to gray CABINET piece is nearly solid griphite and is from the Sitting Bull Pegmatite near the Type Locality - the Everly Mine of South Dakota. Older and seldom available material. Certainly not pretty to look at, but still it's a very rich and highly representative example of the rare species. Ex Kessler and Dennis Mullane Collections and comes with an older faded Minerals Unlimited label, most likely dating to the 1950s, when owner Ralph Merrill specialized in rare species.
