Item Description

While the Siglo XX mine is well known for its various phosphate and sulfide species, it is also one of the most classic localities for the highly sought after Cadmium Sulfide, Greenockite. This micro specimen hosts dozens of attractive, relatively sharp, rich orange-red color, hexagonal prismatic crystals of Greenockite sitting on minor cream colored Wavellite on matrix. The crystals are small (<1mm), and I have photographed them under the microscope to better illustrate their quality. Rarely do well-crystallized examples of this beautiful material make their way to the market, and this is a great opportunity to obtain a great specimen of this well-known species from this historic locality in Bolivia.
