Item Description
A very showy and excellent, complete all-around mounded cluster of classic, super sharp, glassy, light green, beta quartz crystals from Dalnegorsk, Russia. These translucent, dipyramidal beauties are technically quartz pseudomorphs after beta quartz. The phase transition is at about 573 degrees Centigrade. Periphery wear at the base on the sides and super-trivial crystal edgewear higher up are very modest detractions to this fine piece. Dalnegorsk has produced some superb beta quartz crystals and this is certainly a highly representative example. The green tint is probably caused by chlorite. The base has been sawed to enhance the display quality. Valued at $400. SUCH PIECES ARE NOW QUITE RARE, and date from finds of the early 2000s
